The Program

This is a 8-Day continuing education program accredited by Yoga Alliance that is for graduates of the Forrest Yoga Foundational Teacher Training. It is designed to support you as a Teacher and further your skills in all aspects of Forrest Yoga including: “seeing”, sequencing, working one-on-one, working with groups, and self-promotion.

Each day of the Training begins with Ceremony of Calling in the Directions, Chanting, and Yoga Intensive. Afternoons sessions involve writing processes, hand’s-on assisting clinics, Forrest Yoga Sequencing & “Seeing” training, and teaching with feedback.

The Forrest Yoga Mentorship Program is a powerful way to build connections, bridge networks of support, and to be vitalized and inspired in your practice and your teaching. Groups are intentionally kept small so there is time to get to each person’s questions and individual needs.

These courses are run as either two 4-day modules or one 8-day module. And throughout the year, we have 4-8 Bridge Calls as a group to reconnect, chat, and have Forrest Yoga Teaching Strategies on Healing, Authenticity, Integrity, and the Growing Pains we Encounter as Teachers.

This year, I am excited to be co-teaching the Forrest Yoga Mentorship Program with Forrest Yoga Guardian Teacher,  Jambo Truong. We will be leading two 8-Day Mentorships this summer and fall (2018) in Scotland and Austria.

Forrest Yoga

Forrest Yoga is renowned as an intensely physical and internally focused practice that emphasizes how to carry a transformative experience off the mat and into daily life.  The practice challenges students to access their whole being and to use Forrest Yoga as a path to finding and then cleansing the emotional and mental blocks that dictate and limit their lives.  Students cultivate an acute awareness of their own practice and life process, creating a unique and powerful opportunity for them to make practical life decisions based on their own experiences.

Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. The practice is founded on four pillars -- Breath, Strength, Integrity and Spirit.

BREATH
Forrest Yoga teaches you how to breathe deeply, connect in feeling with your body, use the power of breath to bring aliveness into every cell of your body and ignite your passion for living.

STRENGTH
Forrest Yoga teaches you to connect to your core, to be strong and centered. The intense pose sequences are designed to help you develop the skills to awaken each of your senses. The long holds help you progress in the poses and go deeper. Aided by the use of heat, your body is freed from toxins; the deep breathing  oxygenates and rejuvenates every cell in your body.

INTEGRITY
Forrest Yoga teaches you to become proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you, particularly with physical and emotional injuries. By learning to work honestly at your edges, you develop effective tools to deal with fear and struggle. This makes it possible for integrity, self-awareness and playful curiosity to become part of your daily life.

SPIRIT
Forrest Yoga's intent is to create a sense of freedom, a connection to your Spirit and the courage to walk as your Spirit dictates.

Forrest Yoga:

  • teaches you to go deeper to find your truth, and encourages you to take these gifts you have earned beyond the mat and into the rest of your life.

  • honors and celebrates the beauty of life and the power of Spirit. It is an inspiring yoga practice that builds flexibility, intelligence and strength while helping deepen the relationship with your authentic self. Accessing your intuition - the voice of your Spirit - builds personal strength and ushers integrity into your daily interactions.

  • challenges you to heal, grow and welcome your Spirit home.

Forrest Yoga Guardian

Ana Forrest asked me to be a Guardian teacher in 2007 and to make a Life-Pledge of support to the Hoop of the Teachers. I am honored and thrilled to be a part of this modern “Mystery School” of Healing and Transformation.

The Forrest Yoga Guardians are hand-picked by Ana Forrest and serve as Guardians of the legacy of Forrest Yoga and mentors to the Hoop of the Teachers. Each Forrest Yoga Guardian has gone through intensive training with Ana to learn the skills required to be a mentor for teachers. Each Forrest Yoga Guardian brings a unique experience and insight to your continuing education.

Yoga

Every body is different and every body will reflect Yoga differently. My goal is not to create a pose standard that students are trying to achieve but rather develop a skillfulness that helps guide students into their version of each pose. To expect each body to create or “get-to” an ideal standard, puts a limitation on our focus and does not allow us to expand our feeling awareness of who and how we are undefined by our expectations to be different or push further.

Yoga teaches us how to grow our feeling awareness within and through out our body.

Yoga teaches us how to grow our body’s feeling intelligence, which is quite different than our mental intelligence. Our feeling intelligence lives within our cells of mechanoreception, proprioception, and intero-reception(gut-feelings). Strengthening our feeling intelligence helps us to respond better to our body’s and life’s messages.

Yoga becomes a tool for internal listening and checking in with our body. An opportunity to feel our tight spots, our injuries, our organs, our emotions. Feeling into the needs of these areas of ourselves is both overwhelming and powerful. When we begin to feel into our body, we start to feel many of its unanswered needs. This can be overwhelming. Each time we recognize a single need, acknowledge it, and give attention and action to it’s fulfillment we are empowered. Yoga teaches us discernment of what is life-enhancing or energy depleting, physically, emotionally, & mentally.

Yoga is a means of giving yourself a relationship to yourself, whereby each time you practice you get to know yourself and how you feel on that day. It not only gives you a relationship to how you are feeling, it gives you the means to enhance your well-being. For example, Yoga is great for when you feel down, and depressed.

A key in developing this relationship and skillfulness in enhancing our wellness is to learn how to make every Yoga asana work for you. Every asana has an adaptation ready for you. A good strategy is to create an internal environment inside of each pose where you can still access and maintain deep breathing. Each time you practice your enhanced body’s intelligence will guide you towards new adaptations and ways of feeling and breathing in each pose. So will a good Yoga teacher.

This wisdom of learning how to feel inside and adapting each pose to work for you is what makes an Advanced student in yoga. More so, than an ability to put your foot behind your head or balance on your hands.
